Junior Church

We have made a change recently and have begun to use Godly Play as a syllabus and teaching style in junior church. This is a really exciting time for us all as we are all learning together and the children are becoming accustomed to working in this way. hopefully over the next few month we will finish setting up the classroom and equip it with art and craft materials. Then we can organise our newly purchased Godly Play Resources in order that they are accessible for children during our sessions.

Youth Group
We began meeting as a “preparing for confirmation group” in the early part of last year. It was really fun and at our “Confirmation Party” involving much food and chocolate, we decided to continue meeting as a youth group every month.

Uniformed Organisations
Attached to St Mary’s are sections of the 8th Purley Scout group comprising Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. In addition, the 2nd Purley Rainbows and 3rd Purley Brownies also meet at St Mary’s.

Social Committee
Anyone is more than welcome to join the Social Committee. We have enjoyed a variety of events, including the celebreation of the Confirmation service and an organ recital. the Surrey Harp Ensemble joined us for a concert in May. We also had a splendid midsummer Evening of music with a Pimm’s interlude.
