Services at St Edmund’s
My name is Susan Atkinson-Jones and I’m the parish priest of St Edmund’s and St Antony’s and also Team Vicar in the parish of Sanderstead.

St Edmund’s is a little over 50 years old and is a dual purpose building, used both as a church and community resource. Its congregation members are friendly and welcoming to all and are mainly resident in the local community. With Sunday services at 8 am and 9.15 am worship varies in style week by week, some details are below.

If you want to come and meet some of us in an informal setting then why not drop by for a Coffee and Chat on the first Saturday of the month.

St Edmund’s has a long tradition of community service. The St Edmund’s Caring Group provides key support to a large number of clients, mainly elderly, throughout the district. The St Edmund’s Lunch Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month to provide a good lunch and companionship for a number of people who would otherwise be rather isolated.

We hold an informal gathering, “Coffee, Chat and a Little Bit More” at 10am on the first Saturday of each month in the William Goddard Room. This provides an opportunity for those who might not be particularly connected with the Church to meet Church members in an informal context.

A prayer group meets every first Monday at the home of a Church member.

St Edmund’s also hosts KidsZone, the parish children’s club for 5-8s, on the second Saturday morning of each month in term time. A recent development is the hosting of Fresh Encounters, a parish service of prayer, quiet and reflection, on a number of Sunday evenings throughout the year.
