Please be aware that we will NOT be publishing any personal information (addresses or telephone numbers etc.). Not all of the notices each week will be published here. For dates of meetings and groups, please see our calendar page for information. Items which have a highlighted title shows that there is further information available on this site.

ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING ALL SAINTS’ LOWER GRAVEYARD The regular rows of graves in All Saints’ Lower Graveyard are almost full. When originally purchased and laid out, space was left in the ‘pathways’ for additional graves when these were required. The Graveyard Committee has decided that the time has come to begin using these new rows. The first row of graves will be laid out in the ‘pathway’ adjacent to the steps down to the graveyard at the bottom end in Church Way (i.e. in the ‘oldest’ part). Graves will be laid in the same direction as existing graves. Using the graveyard in this way will provide grave space for a number of decades to come, enabling Sanderstead residents to be buried in their own neighbourhood (and at a cost significantly lower than the Local Authority). Further details can be obtained from Piers Hubbard.

Christmas Lunch 2007 It has been the custom of our church to offer a Christmas Lunch for those who are on their own and who would like to come together with others on Christmas Day. Every year we look for someone new to arrange it, with the firm promise that you only ever do it once. Can you arrange the Christmas Lunch? There is a ‘how to do it’ pack available and there are already some who will volunteer to turn up to help on the day. But, as usual, we need an overall organiser. Speak to Simon, Indrani or Judith if you can help.
CONFIRMATION & CHRISTIAN BASICS COURSE On Wednesday evenings from January 31st, we shall be running an Alpha Course for any who would like to come along. If you would like to be baptised and/or confirmed as an adult next year, this is the course you need to come along to. More details soon. Also, if you can help in any way with this course, e.g. by leading a small group discussion, please have a word with Simon soon.
SEARCH FOR A STAR It is vital that we recruit someone to act as the Church Treasurer in the next few months. If you could be persuaded to consider this key role, please speak to Dave Courtney or Simon as soon as possible. Details of the tasks can be got from Alan Bailey.
PRAYER MEETINGS During our Worship Review in the early part of the year, we agreed to begin a regular Saturday morning Prayer Meeting, focusing on praying for the life of our church and its members. The first of these meetings will be held on Saturday 7th October from 9.45am – 10.30am in St Catherine’s Aisle. Come along to pray. No frills. Just a prayer time. But essential for a healthy church life.
For St. Antony’s Church:
Preparing to Worship Try to get to church by 10.30am, until recently you always did! After the meeting and greeting that we share, spend time getting ready to listen to God, praying or worshipping together. When I am there I will lead some hymns and songs, because I find that helps me to focus on God, join in if it helps you. Words are always available from the stewards. Praying the hymn words silently is another good way to open your heart to God's presence. This is NOT just for choiry people, whatever they are!! You could follow Penny's advice and share with someone your experiences of times of prayer during the week. We need to encourage each and make God the focus of all we do at St Antony’s. Jan P
Quiz Night We are holding another Quiz Night at St Antony's on Saturday 9th Dec at 8pm. Amazingly it will be as much fun as ever, and you will be able to pit your wits against the finest in Surrey. Christmas Candles Over the last few years it has become traditional for us to celebrate the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on the fourth Sunday of Advent and Midnight Mass on the night of 24th December by candlelight. We would like to do this again this year. In the past this has only been possible because of the generous financial help given by individual members of the congregation; candles are expensive and unfortunately short-lived. In order to put the 348 candles in the Nave chandeliers, we need to raise £400.00. If you enjoy the candlelit services at Christmas time, please would you consider giving something towards providing the candles. Please would you see Clive Christensen, the Treasurer or either of the Churchwardens to let them know if you would be willing to contribute.
Should we receive sufficient promises of support, we would collect the money towards the end of November in time for delivery at the beginning of December.
