Men’s Group Guided Walk at Painshill Park Cobham Thursday 4 September
Why not join us for a late summer walk around the lovely grounds of Painshill Park instead of our usual Wednesday walk that week.
This will be a guided introductory tour to the landscaped park lasting about 1.5 hours starting at 11am at a cost of £12.50 per person that includes refreshments on arrival and our guide. The park is privately owned so they do not accept National Trust, English Heritage or any other membership.
There are plenty of seats along the gravel paths where you can rest and admire the views across the serpentine lake and bridges; and dogs (on a lead) are welcome.
The park contains a number of architectural follies: the Ruined Abbey, the Hermitage, the Gothic Tower and Temple, the Temple of Bacchus, the Turkish Tent and their most famous attraction the Crystal Grotto where weddings are often held. I’m sure the guide will have more to tell you including the history of this masterpiece of 18th century garden design. (www.painshill.co.uk)
There is a good café on site and picnickers are welcome.
We intend sharing car transport so we shall meet at All Saints Car Park at 10am on the day. Volunteer drivers would be welcome.
If you would like to come along, ladies too are always welcome, please let one of the Men’s Group know by 26 August.
